India’s Mixed Disability Cricket Team Gears Up for Historic Lord’s Clash

Cricket in India is more than just a game—it’s part of our cultural DNA. It unites us, inspires us, and gives millions a reason to dream. Few teams embody that emotion more powerfully than the Indian Men’s Mixed Disability Cricket Team.

Currently on a landmark tour of England, the team is competing in the inaugural India vs England Mixed Disability T20 series. This is a truly historic event, marking the first time that cricketers with physical, intellectual, and hearing disabilities have come together from both countries to compete under one banner in an international series.

On June 25, this groundbreaking series will reach a defining moment when India takes the field at none other than Lord’s Cricket Ground—the most iconic venue in cricket. This is not just a cricket match; it is a statement. A moment of inclusion, recognition, and pride for an entire generation of differently-abled cricketers in India.

A Challenging Start, A Promising Future

The Indian team began their campaign with two back-to-back T20Is that truly tested their preparation and resilience.

In the first match at Taunton (June 21), England batted first and set a solid target of 182/5. India responded with heart and intent, but the chase faltered in the middle overs. The team was bowled out for 117, conceding the match by 65 runs. Still, the team showed flashes of strategic play and grit.

In the second T20I at Wormsley (June 23), the story was similar. England once again posted 180/4, showing their consistency with the bat. India showed more resolve in this chase, fighting harder and staying more composed, but eventually finished with 120, falling short again.

Despite the 2-0 scoreline in favour of England in the 7-match series, what truly stands out is the Indian team’s growth. Every game is a learning curve, and the boys have shown they are absorbing those lessons quickly. This team may have faced early losses, but they’re showing that they’re here not just to participate—but to compete.

Lord’s Awaits — A Match Bigger Than Cricket

Now, as the third T20I approaches, anticipation is building—not just among fans, but across the cricketing world.

To play at Lord’s, known as the Home of Cricket, is a dream for most cricketers. For this team, it’s much more than a dream—it’s a validation. Scheduled on MCC’s Disability Cricket Day, this match represents a massive leap for disability cricket, not just in India but globally.

Lord’s has witnessed iconic moments, unforgettable rivalries, and careers born under the bright lights. On June 25, it will witness something just as monumental—a group of Indian cricketers defying odds, rewriting narratives, and walking onto the pitch as equals.

To wear the India jersey and play at Lord’s is not just an honour—it’s a symbol of everything this team stands for: resilience, unity, and the love of the game. This isn’t just another match. It’s a celebration of ability, determination, and progress.
