“When I started playing cricket, a lot of questions were raised,” Deetya says. “You’re a girl. Focus on studies. What’s there in cricket?”

Deetya plays 200 to 300 balls every single day. Even during exams, she finds one or two hours to stay connected to the game. She believes the difference between being good and being great lies in what you do when the process becomes boring.
“Every child is talented,” she says. “But only those who work hard become successful.”
Her mindset separates her. If she scores a hundred, she feels she must score more next time. She never allows herself to be satisfied. She works consciously on fitness and is known for taking responsibility without being reminded.
