Taking a stroll down memory lane to 2019, our first exploration of the Grassroots Cricket Landscape revealed impressive numbers: 3 million registered cricketers, 300,000 scored matches, 19,000+ tournaments, and 2,000+ playing grounds across India.

Fast forward to today, and our grassroots community is of 25 million enthusiasts, with spirited participation from 142 countries worldwide. From Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, to the majestic Himalayas, your cricketing spirit has left an indelible global impact, transcending borders.

How did we play?

In the eventful year of 2023, a whopping 2,729,474 matches unfolded, with tennis ball matches dominating the scene.

A staggering 853,956 matches were scored between 12:00 to 5:00 PM, proving that not even the scorching heat could dampen our unwavering passion. 

And on Christmas Eve, 2023 – a day for festive revelry and cricket frenzy – you, yes you, engaged in a jaw-dropping 28,511 matches, the highest in 2023.

Talking about tournaments

Whether you are orchestrating a Cricket Tournament for the first time or you are a seasoned organizer, we can all agree that it is no small feat. We witnessed a commendable 150,229 tournaments in 2023! 

But which tournament category stole the spotlight?

The Noida Cup 2023, a tennis ball open tournament, kicked off on Nov 21, 2022, and concluded on Jan 7, 2024, leaving an awe-inspiring trail of 239,055 views on the CricHeroes App.

It wasn’t just a tournament; it was a spectacle!

Going Live!

We know that it’s a different feeling to broadcast your cricket matches with TV-like scores and engage with fans worldwide. 
89,923 matches were Live streamed in 2023.

From the charming town of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, with a population of 96,000, 

to the serene lap of the Himalayas in Kargil, Ladakh – the game we adore was scored and streamed everywhere.

City Showdowns:

In the cityscape, Delhi took the centre stage with 315,062 matches played – the most in 2023!

Dubai led with the highest number of Destroyers, featuring 4,085 batters with the Destroyer Tag.

And let’s not forget the cities that embraced the ‘hit it out of the park’ spirit – Surat topped the charts with an astonishing 862,679 sixes, closely followed by Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Dubai.

Over 1.2 million Innings of 2023 stories were generated. This year, we added an interesting insight into how many kilometres you ran between the wickets.

Did you know, according to statistics published by ESPNcricinfo, Virat Kohli covered an astonishing 510 km while running between the wickets in international cricket?

Bengaluru led the run-out brigade with 161,119 run-outs, with Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Pune not too far behind. 

Badge of honours

Cricket is a game of numbers and milestones, and we love them! To celebrate and recognize these milestones, we have Badges for you.

In 2023, an impressive 133 Historical 10,000s badges were unlocked in Hyderabad. It seemed like every 3rd day, Hyderabadis were achieving 10K run milestones.

One of the major milestones etched in the cricket books in 2023 was when Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable feat of 50 centuries in ODI cricket. Legends, right?

Talking about individual brilliance, Joji from Thiruvananthapuram bagged the Player of the Tournament award a whopping 11 times in 2023.

We’ve all played the role of an umpire in our local matches, understanding the pivotal role match officials play. Since its inception in 2016, CricHeroes has been on a mission to connect every grassroots cricket stakeholder, fostering meaningful relations. What began as a simple scoring app, connecting players, organisers, and scorers, has evolved into a broader network linking various community members.

The Community (previously Ecosystem) module of the CricHeroes App allows everyone connected to grassroots cricket to list themselves or their services free of charge. Players and organisers can directly connect with them to hire or transact. CricHeroes is committed to bridging the gap between grassroots cricket and international cricket through technology.

In 2023, 6,854 match officials registered/added.
